Principal's Message

Westside High School Community,

It is an honor to serve as your principal and to formally introduce myself to the Westside community. My journey in education began in Arkansas and has been shaped through meaningful experiences at Hamilton Middle School, Waltrip High School, Revere Middle School, and here at Westside High School. I also had the opportunity to serve as principal of Southwest Charter School from 2008 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, I served at Hastings High School in Alief ISD, followed by Yates High School from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, I returned to Westside, where I have remained committed to the growth and success of this campus.

My leadership approach is grounded in clarity, consistency, and collective responsibility. I believe in building strong professional learning communities where teams collaborate with purpose, use data to drive instruction, and remain focused on student outcomes. We will ensure that every lesson is aligned to clear objectives, that students engage in purposeful reading, writing, discussion, and that we continuously respond to student needs in real time.

Westside has the potential, the people, the passion, and the perseverance to surpass its best days. As we reintroduce a traditional bell schedule with 50 minute classes, we are prioritizing daily access to strong instruction for every student. This shift allows our students to engage with their teachers every day and strengthens relationships, consistency, and academic progress.

Our focus is clear. We will strengthen instruction, develop our teachers, build student grit, and ensure that every student is prepared for success beyond high school. These pillars will guide our work each day.

The past five months have been humbling and have reinforced the urgency and importance of our mission. As we enter the fourth quarter, we are positioned to finish strong. We will execute with discipline, monitor our progress, and celebrate our growth.

I am committed to being present, visible, and engaged with our students, staff, and families. I will continue to connect with our community, meet with families, and ensure that Westside remains a place where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported. I encourage you to visit our campus, stay connected, and partner with us in this work.

I am excited to serve as your principal. We will continue to provide updates on our progress, our successes, and our next steps as we move forward together.

Westside’s best days are ahead, and we will achieve them together.
