Magnet Program
Westside High School proudly serves as one of Houston ISD’s Magnet Schools, offering specialized programs in STEAM and Health Science through the Futures Academy. These programs provide students with the opportunity to explore real-world career pathways aligned with emerging industries. Through hands-on experiences and innovative coursework, students develop essential skills in creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving—preparing them for success in today’s dynamic, technology-driven world.

New This Year: Early College Program
Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, Westside is proud to introduce our Early College Program, allowing motivated students to earn college credits (and possibly an Associate’s degree) alongside their high school diploma. Through partnerships with local colleges, the program offers concurrent enrollment in college-level courses taught by college faculty—helping students gain a head start on their postsecondary goals.

Getting Involved & Next Steps

Course selection for rising 9th graders opens spring semester—complete prerequisite forms and academic electives early .

Dual Credit/Early College students must attend an orientation, complete applications, and follow enrollment guidance from both HISD and partner colleges .

Magnet Pathway applicants can apply during the HISD Magnet application window; current Westside students must meet pathway-specific standards set in year 1.
